What happens during a PRP facial session?
Treatment begins with a small blood draw, similar to a routine lab test. While we centrifuge your plasma, we apply topical anesthesia so the procedure is comfortable. The session takes about 45 minutes, and Dr. Tatiana Leal applies the PRP to the points defined during your assessment.

Is PRP safe for the face?
It is a low-risk procedure when performed by a physician in a medical office. Because it is prepared from your own blood (autologous), allergic reactions to the plasma are exceptional. Mild redness and swelling for 24-48 hours are usual, sometimes with small bruises. It is not recommended during pregnancy, with clotting disorders or low platelets, anticoagulants, active infection in the area or active cancer; we check this at your assessment. As with any procedure involving micro-injections, uncommon complications such as an infection can occur; the prior assessment and medical technique in the office make them very rare.
Who should not have a PRP facial?
We do not recommend it during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a clotting disorder or low platelets, if you take anticoagulants, if there is an active infection in the area (including cold sores) or with active cancer. At your assessment we review your history and medication before recommending it.
How long does a session take, and can I go back to work the same day?
A session takes about 45 minutes, including the blood draw and centrifugation. Most patients return to their usual activities the same day. Mild redness and swelling for 24-48 hours are usual, sometimes with small bruises that last a few days, so we suggest not scheduling it right before an important event.
